Roberto, I have the same truck and have been considering this conversion. Can you keep us posted on how the conversion is coming along? Love to know about any problems or pitfalls, if any. Thx!

Will do Pete, right now I am on all the other G forums and saving threads of these swaps for future reference. I would love to make it up your way one day for I have always wanted to see the New England region anyway. I just purchased the EGR block off kit from a vendor off another forum so I can toss all that stuff and going to pressure wash it soon so I can actually walk next to it without accumulating grease and then will start taking a/c components off that I will never use. I plan on having it totally rebuilt first before swapping. I purchased a 711.116 wolf transmission with the super low granny as well to put in with it. I am also going to research having a mold made of my tropical roof to be able to make fiberglass/ Kevlar reproductions of it and new poly mounts for it.

Good deal man, I just installed my $250 om617 in my Toyota, Great motors. Oven cleaner is a pretty good degreaser. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRtBLkw5sQw&list=UUAcbH2h625wkVfiL4K-z_aQ&index=3

Do you mind sharing the name of the importer?

I have recently acquired an interest in these MB diesels...

Thanks,
-Dan

300TD' engines can be found all day long here in U.S, no importer needed

Rob

Yep, though the specific Merc Diesel I'm looking (OM606T) at is around 5x more expensive in North America than in Europe.
Also, it will help to have access to a multitude of parts like different IPs, oil pans, etc. etc.

Thanks,
-Dan

You and me both Dan. It is time to swap a diesel into our G.

Actually, I'm researching putting a 606T into a JKU..... :Wow1:

If it doesn't fit length wise, I'm looking at the 605T which is the same thing with one less cylinder. I would have to import it from the UK, but they are < $500, so would still be viable with shipping.

As for the 606T into the G, I've found a few threads of guys doing / have done it. Doesn't sound too nasty, though I think it doesn't get great mileage because it's geared strangely.

For example: http://australiangelandewagenownersassociation.yuku.com/topic/1175/Om606-into-460#.UXAjFO82x8F
