NWOL meet & greet in Central WA

T.Low and I attended the Northwest Overland meet & greet in Central WA last Saturday and wandered around the Manastash, Taneum, and Fortune Creek areas before and after the event. bknudtsen was there as well and he allowed me to drive his U Joint van 4x4 conversion. It's an awesome rig and it drives well and looks amazing, and knowing it was all done on a driveway by one guy makes it even more impressive.

Thx! It was good to meet you, and fun to drive your rig and mine back to back. The weight difference sure was apparent! Got me thinking more and more about a pop-top tho...

Few pics of our Sprinter at Loft Mountain campground off skyline drive. Put a few miles on our bikes during the day and stared at the fire during the evening.

Good call, I went and checked the lights, there not blocked. However the license plate is blocked. I looked at several pix online of other vans with bikes on the back and most of theirs were blocked as well. Has anyone had an issue with this? Anyone know what the law reads? I would think if moved, it would also have to be "lighted"?? Do they really expect this to be done??

I realize the question was asked a month ago, but I thought I'd throw in my experience anyway. My girlfriend did get ticketed for obstructing a license plate with a bicycle rack. I've done it many times, and so have other people I've known without so much as a warning. I guess my girlfriend just got stopped by a cop having a bad day.

Like others have said, you'd probably be better off putting some lights on the back of that rack. I'd stay away from the magnetic ones. They're kind of a PIA. They scuff/scratch paint, and sometimes fall off. It wouldn't take much to screw some lights on and plug them into the trailer connector. The plate is supposed to be lighted. You can pick up some trailer light packages that include a license plate holder and light.
