So whats' the story behind this shot?

that was one of a group of jeeps running the white rim trail in the opposite direction to me.. i'd met them while leaving my campsite in the morning and they mentioned that they'd "lost a jeep" off the side of murphys hogback - that was it i guess.

no more deets than that really. it had been raining though and things were slippery.

is this the image you're talking about? thats at the end of lathrop trail - the trail runs all the way to colorado river, but right now the river is a little higher than usual.... the last few feet of the trail were underwater.

i really don't like driving through water especially on my own [for obvious reasons].

still some beautiful cottonwood trees in the sand down there.

Beautiful photos. Looks like you got the full meal deal on your trip, you covered all of the parks.

Scary photo of the Jeep but really nice scenics and close-ups. I have a shot of Nelson's store too. I tried it in B&W, kinda worked but I should have focused on that cool old pump out front.

Any details you can share on your trip? Was this recently? How many days were you out? A solo juant? :lurk:

sorry its taken so long to write this up.. it was a week long solo jaunt taken in the week leading up to memorial day.

FRIDAY
SF to las vegas. uneventful drive. spent the evening hooning around vegas with some friends visiting from new york.

SATURDAY
took my hangover on the road to zion. spent the day wandering around. disappointingly the narrows were closed and it was fairly mobbed with people. not really what i was looking for but was still glad to check out the park. headed out for bryce grabbing a motel for the night in panguitch.

SUNDAY
checked out bryce. same issue with crowds but was glad to have had to opportunity pass through. loaded up on supplies and extra gas in tropic and did some hiking around kodachrome. really beautiful spot.

from there drove the skutumpah road. explored a couple of slot canyons here, otherwise an uneventful drive down to the 89 and across almost all the way to big water. set up camp in white house that night.

MONDAY
hit up page for gas, better food, ice and beer. checked out lake powell, glen canyon NRA and took smokey mountain road to escalante. then took hole in the rock road down to the hole in the rock checking out some dino tracks and dancehall rock on the way. camped here. amazing sunset.

TUESDAY
gassed/iced up in escalante, breakfast in boulder and then followed the burr trail to capitol reef running the wolverine trail along the way. ran twisty mule road in capitol reef and caught the halls crossing ferry. from here blasted up to moab, got a motel room, a steak and some beers.

WEDNESDAY
hiked around arches a bunch. then checked into canyonlands running part of schafer trail, lathrop canyon and white rim to airport C to set up camp.. massive rainstorms and temperature drop making the trail slippery and fun.

THURSDAY
ran the remainder of the white rim. weather was changeable and fun. i had intended to camp at potato bottom that night but with the weather looking iffy and having a desire to be camping with friends in tahoe on the friday evening i pressed on and made it to elko. this was a long *** drive in a nightmare storm for the most part. was worn out.

FRIDAY
mostly uneventful drive to downieville CA with the exception of being pulled over by a very nice sherrif in sierraville for blowing a stop sign.

thats it.

capitol reef along with the white rim trail were my two absolute favourite spots on this trip. unreal scenery.

Tim and Kelsey get lost..

So cool. I'm getting psyched up for my trip by your white rim pics!
Very nice!
