Sorry let me clarify. I didn't mean a trans Africa expedition or a drive to Tierra del Fuego. What I meant were some weekend camping trips, mild off roading, and the ability to camp comfortably out west when I got a month or two off. So I misspoke when I said expedition ready. And 30k to make it reliable? Couldn't I fix those things as they came up? What are the main things you would fix if you had a 25 mile commute and carpooled? If it dies you had a week to fix it, and probably still had my truck just in case. For 30k I might as well get an lr3 and build that up slowly.

"expo ready" is relative. It's hard to go 2 hours in the US without hitting a gas station/mcdonalds.

"expo" people could put 31s and new bumpers on and be done with it. Winch out of most situations, etc.

So....... Not going to admit that you have $20k + into your vehicle? :-D

What does a gas station or mcDonalds have to do with being expo ready?! Dude! Sometimes I can't believe you're my partner!
But, nobody else can stand to be out in the bush with me for 4 days straight! :-D

You just need to sort the engine, cooling, and a few other things to make it reliable. Get a rust free southwest car and you'll be off to a great start.

Expedition in the states isn't like Africa, if you get in trouble you can call AAA to bring you a double cheeseburger and tow!

That sounds ideal. What about an RRC? Pros? Cons? Whole different ball game?

Different years have different issues. I personally prefer the 92+ models.
