Possible T100 Owner, Have a Quick Question

As the subject states I'm looking at buying a used 1997 T100 SR5 4x4 tomorrow and have a couple of quick questions, I figured the Toyota community could answer these quick!

1) The engine has 187,000 miles on it. I'm not scared of high mileage motors since I recently got 260,000 out of a GM 305 but I am new to import engines. I know they are easy to rebuild and I am fully capable of doing all but machine work myself but I just wanted to ask how reliable these 3.4's are.

2) MPG. According to the almighty Google owners reported an average of 18mpg combined and upwards of 21mpg highway. This sound right?

Thanks for reading and any help, I'm very excited about this truck since it will mean a downsize from the gas addict suburban I have now! This T100 is dirt cheap and in great condition for the mileage and year, I'm figuring most of the miles were highway.

I get 18 out of my truck on a regular basis and 19 on occasion. I would not be worried about the mileage as these engines have been known to make it to 400,000 miles.

Well waiting another day to think things over was the best idea this time. Another customer test drove the truck this morning and when they got back to the dealer it sounded like a diesel! Bottom end is blown!

Oh well, no T100 for me today. :(

1: they are very reliable, i have 340,xxx on my truck (97 T100 3.4) the motor has 140,xxx on it with a supercharger and i drive it like i stole it, the motor be for it had about 280,xxx with the S/C.

2:Yes 18 to 21 mpg, the sr5 extended cab only weighs 4000lbs, only about 200lbs more then the taco. I get 14 to 16 mpg with mine. like i said its S/C along with 4.88 gears, 37" mtr, and a dana 44 front end. i get 12mpg towing my 3000lbs trailer. :costumed-smiley-007

Just know with the T100 there is no after market. And toyota is about out of parts, like the gas tank last i heard last yr from toyota they only had 7 left in the country!!
