Trying terribly to get a great trailer for a family of 4. Husband is 6' 4" so he totally screws up the plan. Don't need true off-road. Just enough to go on forest service roads. Have been trying for 6 months to hook up with VMI. Have my dream trailer totally designed for Mike to build. Should I be looking elsewhere? Could a Moby fit the bill? Are there other companies out there that I haven't found? Hours on the internet....

Family of four in a serious off road trailer is a hard hit to be honest.

I would take a look at some of the AFrame trailers, by Chalet, Aliner and Rockwood. They have what they call off road versions, not serious, but fire road worthy I think. I drug one around for about 8 years or so and never had any problems. Never did a real trail, but it managed to get me home every time and my road to my house is rougher than most fire roads.

The small AFrames sleep at least four and semi comfortably. Are light enough for most jeeps and FJ's to pull with no problems. They are quick to set up, and offer little wind resistance. Not the quality of the ones you have mentioned, but your first qualifier took their requirement out.

I loved that I could be in mine all set up in 30 seconds. Snug, warm and no wind or rain. Stand inside to cook, or on the outside BBQ. I had the larger ones, but the new mini ones offer a good base camp set up. If I were looking for what you have described, they would be at the top of my list.

Bringing up an old thread as I'm in the market for one now. I met a man with an AT Teardrop hooked up to his Earth Roamer  over the summer and now we want one (trailer that is). Any new players in the game or comments about those already mentioned (Moby1, AT, etc). Thanks.

^^^^^^^ Take a look at our two prototype trailers we are taking down to the Pomona Off Road Expo in California this weekend. We will be in full production by the end of the year and will have inventory for sale at that time as well. Our supplier delivered the wrong doors without windows at the the last minute...Our production models will have a window in the main door.
