Has any one considered using Camo Netting for shade? I know it wouldn't be very good for rain but shade it should be good.

By far our favorite part of our trailer

Sent from my iToaster

Love that trailer. I want to build one like it one day, or put a utility bed on the truck.

This is a variation of Wildcat’s awning with hand full of minor changes. The main difference is using Bimini hinge mounting brackets to secure the vertical support poles to the truck. This way the poles that hold up the awning also hold it down and the angle can be adjusted for rain and wind. Once I had that in place, I realized that I could add an awesome kitchen counter and shelf.

My wonderful shade is a Wal-Mart tarp and army tent poles from a GP Small... Mine is much bigger, but kinda a PITA. I love this. The idea of having no poles or ropes is very attractive.

The more things change, the more they stay the same

The car is 1953 (?)(dodge?)
The year is 1959
Mom, Dad and 5 kids safely camping along the north shore of Lake Superior, MN, sleeping in the car!
Dad eventually purchased a pop-up trailer, completely redid it, and we got more room.

The great thing about the Hannibal with side walls is you can add some tent poles and guy lines and exponentially increase your shade!

Very cool! I ruled out the walls for my rear awning because they won't fit with the rear hatch open. I never thought to run them at an angle like that. May have to rethink my setup...

I'll have to add the other photos when I get a chance, but with the poles and guy lines you can pull them straight out.

ARB Anwing, wasn't very impressed with mounting systems so i fabricated mine own out of some left over 310 stainless steel, then gave it a few coats of Brownells Aluma-Hyde paint. it is overkill, but it was a fun project.

I picked up an African outback awning last week and installed it on my rack. Here some pictures of it in use this past weekend in Mojave.

Here's the setup I had on my bobtailed discovery, just a basic basha with a couple of poles and guys. The Pole at the vehicle end goes through the rear recovery point and gives a nice solid upright to keep everything nice and tight :)

Sold the rear Hannibal and picked up an EEzi Awn Spoyla for the "back porch" the 2M Hannibal is probably getting sold...
