mcskibadee1 I am seriously impressed you did the Pinyon drop-off in your Monty. I am afraid to do it. I just don't think there is enough articulation in the suspension to keep it from rolling. Do you have any more photos of you going through the first part of the hill? I've done this trail in my Jeep a time or two, but that baby just flexed through everything. The Monty on the other hand, feels like it wants to tip over on Cleghorn!

Thinking the same thing. Impressive!

Thanks guys! I thought it wasn't too bad but you are making me feel like I avoided certain death, haha. While the hill was hard and a mistake could mean death or injury we had more trouble climbing over the two large rocks after the squeeze. I got a huge scratch on my window, it almost popped on that one rock. I really wish I could have taken more pics but I was driving and it was later in the day so we didnt want to get stuck out there at night.

I will say we sat at the top of the hill for about 30 minutes picking lines before we went over. It didn't help that there was a group before us that said there is a video online about a lady rolling her jeep down it. I did see the video when I got home and she took the drop on the other side and the spotters picked some very bad lines.

I will check if my brother took more pics. I typically take pics but I was driving. My friend made it down in his stock ZR-2.

Heres a video from my hood, its eh. (more vids of us doing other obstacles on the trail)

Pic of the ZR-2 doing it with 3 wheels.

Funny doesn't look too bad from the dash cam but since I am familiar with that hill I know better. Very good work! I have the same color scheme on My Monty as well. What's that on the rear of your rack?

Its that point at time 0:54 in your video that is the pucker factor.... right about when your buddy (brother?) ran off the trail trying to avoid being steamrolled by a tumbling Montero :)

I had to laugh though, at your friend's hand signals. I think some training would be helpful!

True, her spotters were bad, and there were far too many people giving "directions", but the woman exacerbated the situation by turning her wheels the wrong way initiating the weight transfer up and over. However, she's not the only one. Over the years I've seen quite a few videos or photos of folks at the bottom of that hill in crumpled up rigs.

Nice. Got to love that low center of gravity!

@montero98ls I know, videos never do anything justice when it comes to this. I always hesitate showing people videos since my explanation beforehand may seem like I am stretching the truth after they see the video. ALso, the rack is an Inno awning I attached to the back.

@KTMRIDER I have to say that my montero seems to have decent articulation...maybe? Definitely not like a jeep but those thoughts definitely went through my head.

I posted this earlier but that doesnt look too bad right? (this is a different trail in Anza Borrego)

Lol, yup. That was my friend, my brother was off on the side taking pics. We had to tell him to stay to the side in case I went over. I white knuckled the whole way down pretty much. A controlled slide as I put it.

I know, I agree. We are still relatively new and definitely felt like noobs.

Damn, I can honestly say I probably wouldn't have done the trail if I had heard all these things but I am glad I did and didnt tip!

I know, I definitely felt like he was at a much safer advantage going down that hill.[/B]

It really was a super fun trail, I just wish I had gone earlier in the day and like you said, had a little more training. I know you do training in cleghorn, right?

Tim,

Looks good and your ahead of me. I just installed pistons today and should have the heads on this week. Got to do a few more things before it hits the road. What size is your tire and rim combo?

Tim, haha...yes it is, no worries and no hurry Monty is still down. I'm just trying to get the motor back together and get it running, so it will be a few weeks. Thanks.
