Bah ... scenery looks fine to me, and the fact that it's a Patrol out in its native habitat also makes up for any perceived "scenery discrepancy".
... all of you Aussie (and from elsewhere than North America) guys must be getting tired of hearing it, but we here in the US sure are jealous of your vehicle offerings. The modern Y61 turbo-diesels in particular ... :smiley_drive:
Mate as someone who lives in one of the most scenic part of N.America (PNW), and has lived in S.Central QLD Australia... I'd Miss the NW, but I'd move back to OZ tomorrow given the choice. I literally get sad looking at my pictures of Australia I miss the country and my life there so much.
^really nice shot bushnut! Lots going on in that pic. I like those Lego wheels on the R50, they make your truck look bolder. Which tarp/pole setup is that? Nemo? Would it stay in that position if you shut the rear hatch?
the tarp is sil-nylon found at Bens's backwoods.com I think the brand is Eetwa its made in the USA, 8'x10'. the two poles are from an old canvas tent I found in my father in law's shed. and the centre pole is a telescopic painters pole with a tennis ball on the end. and yes I can close the hatch. the tarp is strung to the roof rack with a couple of bungees and the painters pole slides through the hitch recovery shackle.
it's a modular set up as I can set it up to either side of the truck as well.
total cost.....probably about $75 bucks for everything.
never expected to find rain in the middle of desert and the lesson learnt more research prior to go long runs. this is Salalah Oman, 1500km from where i live... wife and i enjoyed every bit...
