Like Big Al...........

I also use Rustoleum.

But I brush it on. Guess I didn't even think of rolling it on! I guess I save that for the house.

Works great for me. I just keep on a brushin'..... 'till it's smooth!

Hope you can see it in this pic. Valley of the Gods. Oooooo! I love that place!

I'd do POR over anything, any day, if it were a part with a lot of surfaces I wouldn't be welding later, and didn't expect to drag on the rocks. Personally, for (finished) bumpers, sliders, topside of skid plates, I wouldn't use anything else. Most of those surfaces will never see abrasion except from road debris or your shoes, and two coats of POR is like armor.

If you plan to mess with it later, just do enough rattle can to protect it for a while. My rear axle and rear bumper are both getting rattlecan treatment since I'll be welding on them down the road and removing POR is not easy.

If you plan on POR, plan on sandblasting first...sandblast, etch, season and paint...the stuff is bombproof. It's gap-filling too, which is a major concern if you have a part which can only be welded on one side and didn't quite get full penetration to the back. It will keep rust from forming inside the seam.

Also you can always rattlecan over POR later if (when) you need to.
