My power steering on my 05 F150 kicks in an out, Wondering if it could be the steering pump.

Does this happen with normal driving or only on the trail? First thing that comes to mind is the fluid is cavitating. That can be fixed by doing a power steering flush and putting in a good PS fluid like Redline.

happens while regular driving, Is it hard to drain the power steering fluid?
