Have you tested fitted it yet? I was under the assumption that it interfered with the intercooler?

It fits. I used to have the stock 3rd gen steering box with and aftermarket brace, it probably would have interfered with that brace. But I switched to the 6 bolt box a few years back and ditched the brace so it’s all clear now.

Hopefully this afternoon I can spend sometime working on it.

Howdy all,

Finally wrapping up this project.

Well I was able to get my rocker switch setup to function but it was pretty hokey and not very clean. Also, I was becoming less excited about the electric disconnect system after reading about so many failures, it’s a matter of time.

So I decided to order the EVO mechanical disconnect. I needed to cut off one coil of the spring as their instructions suggested may be needed. It’s tucked up nice and out of the way and literally takes less than 10 seconds to crank the knob to lock/unlock. I considered building my own, since it’s quite simple, but the price was less than $100 so I hit the easy button.

I’m super pleased with the rIde quality and function. Like I originally stated I had built some disconnect end links and used them for several years but they were always rattling around and getting in the way. This is SO MUCH nicer, and alot cleaner. Is it worth the $1200(or whatever the dealer sells the bar for), probably not. But Ive got less than $150 into this and Im very pleased

For what you sacrifice in convenience over the electronic disconnect, you make up for in simplicity and reliability with this manual system. I think you will be happy with your decision. I have home made disconnect end links on my XJ, and keeping track of pins, additional rattles, getting things to line up correctly, and fit and finish, I can see how this would be much more streamlined system than your previous set up

I found that my Ram 2500 rode much better and had less understeer with the swaybar removed. I stopped lusting after the disco sway bar and threw mine in the bin. The end link mounts make a nifty place to hang limit straps...

I probably would of ditched the swaybar entirely but I use my truck for work and routinely haul a few thousand pounds in the bed and pull 10k trailers, so I like the stability a swaybar provides when I need it.
