Power Wagon vs F250 Tremor

Both are very nice trucks. For me, who also tows about the same as you, I would go 7.3L Tremor for the additional payload.

By the time you factor in passengers, cargo and tongue weight you might be close to the payload rating on the Power Wagon.

That is my issue. My truck is rated to tow 10,700 but I'm close on payload.

I would also look at aftermarket support. If you are taking it on trails a lot, you'll probably want tu run bigger tires. Power wagon fits 37s with stock suspension and some aftermarket wheels with the right offset. Underbody protection is key as well. One thing I really like about my Power Wagon is the disconnectable sway bar. It makes running rough roads/trails really comfortable, but disengages automatically at ~20mph.

Is it riding season yet?
I haven’t heard of any trans problems with the ZF, nor any front end problems with the 19 plus updates.

on another note, the 7.3 ford has a known problem with a coils wire that goes bad randomly and will put you dead in the water with the replacement part on back order.

Both power wagons in his fleet have blown up a tranny, and one had a ridiculously sloppy front end when it was dumped at 100,000km (60k miles). Like can turn the wheel an inch in either direction at highway speeds and the truck doesn't steer. Logging is tough on trucks, but typically they don't go through trannies in 100km. Both trucks were either 2016's or 2017's, I don't remember which.

Also the 7.3 having a coil issue, you do realize it's a brand new engine, down to every last part for this year, right? Kinda normal to have issues in the first year. If we want to get into engine issues I think every brand has an issue here and there. Even ones that have had the same engine for 10 years. What's the 6.4 one, was it lifters or MDS? I don't follow dodge stuff enough to know.

On that note, I've read on here that the newer Power Wagons require a different skid underneath as the factory piece is plastic.

Not sure if the Tremors would require any aftermarket skid plates. (Never looked into it)

Although I'm sure there are after market options for both trucks.

the 6 speed is completely different than the 8 speed.

I'll take your word for it. Never been under one myself. Well, neither one to be exact.
just watch the video and fast forward to 18:10 and you can see the Tremor for yourself..On the whole the PW has some good protection except for the plastic transmission pan which does need an aftermarket skid. Unfortunately not a lot of manufacturers are making skids for them for some reason. Seems like an untapped market. I ordered a Dethloff skid on Sept 1 and am still waiting. The tranny skid is a popular upgrade no doubt.

I’m sure the Tremor could fit 37’s on stock suspension with the right offset. It comes stock with 35’s, while the power wagon comes stock with 33’s.

On the Tremor, with a small level kit on the front, people run 37” tires with +18 offset with no issues. That has virtually no stick out past the truck which will help protect the paint (and keep it from looking like a stupid bro-dozer)

I wouldn’t run a “small level kit”, as that probably means a coil spacer which will compress the springs and lead to an even harder ride with reduced articulation.

I didn’t imply, nor mean, a spacer lift. Carli makes a full leveling kit system. That can include everything from coils, shocks, track bar, radius arms, full leaf spring replacement, etc. I said “small” because due to the suspension already on the Tremor, the lift isn’t as much of an increase as it would be on a stock Super Duty.

Ok so that truck with the trans problem is not the ZF 8 speed. As far as the 7.3 issue, I’m. It going to argue with a ford fan boy online, waste of time.

I think it really comes down to intended use. 3 minutes of googling shows a PW max payload of 1,510 lbs. and towing of 10,350 lbs. Ford Tremor F-250 has 2,923 lbs and towing capacity of 15,000 lbs. (18,100 lbs. with gooseneck, which apparently isn't an option on the PW) max. That is 193% and 144% more, respectively. And the Temor can come as a one-ton, though I didn't find numbers for that. There is also a diesel option. The PW is probably the nicer daily driver unloaded. But a base FWC Hawk is only 1100 lbs.dry, and on a Tremor still gives you more reserve payload than the PW starts out with. They are really apples and oranges.

I would agree with this. Really depends what you want to do with it. I agree with a previous comment that the bucket / console option of the Tremor is nice.

I do like the buckets / console in my truck. That being said, overall, I like the Ram interior better. Just to be safe, maybe get both trucks....
