Powering LEDs via Cat5

Not vehicle related, although it probably could be...

I'm wanting to install 12V LEDs in custom enclosures in my house. To power them, I'd like to use Cat5 (or Cat6) powered by a 1A 12V adapter. The LEDs draw .08A each (~1W). I think Cat5 can handle 0.5A per strand, but I'm not sure about the voltage drop...I'm thinking ~100' run of Cat 5 from the plug to the LEDs...

Another idea I had was run 18GA most of the distance and then split off and power each LED via a 22GA power wire. Grounding is not an issue...

Would this work? From a current perspective, it seems like I should be able to run 8 LEDs (one per strand) since it's plenty low current draw, but I'm not sure about the voltage drop.
