1995 Mitsubishi Montero LS 4-door
Around town, I get 14-17 mpg depending on if I’m in AWD or 2WD. On the highway, I’ve gotten as high as 21 mpg, but 17-19 is typical.
A lot of service has been performed by local Montero expert, Sean Kendall (if you know, you know!). Otherwise, I’ve taken it to a local import specialist.
A/C blows cold! Heat is hot! Clean title, no liens.
Located in Bend, Oregon.
I’m a bit reluctant to let ol’ Monty go, as he’s been really good to me and the family, but I bought a truck…
Some of the modifications:
(CarFax thinks there were 2 owners prior to me, but the previous owner told me he was the original owner -- it it definitely was not a rental as CarFax has it under his ownership.)
Other items included in sale:

Some of the modifications:
- K&N air filter
- LED dash lights
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel
- Bilstein 4600 shocks
- Pioneer bluetooth stereo (I loved the OEM deck w/ cassette, but it died)
- Blind spot mirror (I can't live without these)
- Optima Red Top battery
- Big cup holders (custom 3D printed one goes into the ashtray slot)
- RAM Mounts ball on Oh-No bar
- Pitch/roll indicator (not wired to lighting)
- Well Visors
- Brake pads are at 5 and 6 mm (need replacing when at 3-4; next owner may want to do the "big brake" kit that a lot of Montero owners do)
- Front differential pinion seal is starting to seep fluid; will need replacement if leak worsens
- Chips in paint; small rust spots in paint
- Tear in rear seat armrest fabric
- Driver’s headlight lens gets condensation
- Tail light fuse occasionally blows (hasn’t happened in several thousand miles)
- Piston rings have lost their spring force on the engine walls, so when using engine braking (e.g. in 3rd gear when descending mountains) oil is pulled past the rings, resulting in bluish puffy exhaust. No driveway leaks, and no smoke during normal use. These could be replaced and the engine would basically be brand-new afterwards. (Ballpark from Sean was $3k) -- I wasn't going to mess with it until I had leaks or it used oil. It might go for years like it is!
- New tires, Cooper Discoverer AT3 (161k) – 8/32 left as of Aug 2023
- A/C belt, alternator belt, power steering belt, Adventure Driven Design idler bushings, pitman arm, outer/inner tie rods, idler arm (163k)
- Valve stem seals, timing belt, spark plugs/wires, seals, gaskets, exhaust manifold, valve covers, power steering flush, coolant flush, lifters (168k)
- doesn't show up on CarFax as done by Sean (and Import Performance keeps asking if the timing belt was done -- it was!)
- Rear axle pinion seal, fuel filter (180k)
- Chevron Techron fuel treatment (183k)
- Oil change, tire rotation (188k)

Other items included in sale:

- Yakima rack keys
- Owner’s manual
- Full service records
- Hub covers
- K&N recharge kit
