SteepandCheap had a killer deal on these today; they seem like a good alternative to the Jetboils and such as they are adjustable, and capable of cooking more than water.

Well, I bought me one off of SAC:

Came with:
EtaPower Stove and Stand
Windscreen
2.1L pot with heat exchanger
Frying pan/Pot lid
Pot handle
Nifty carrying case/Pot insulator

This stove can be used with any canned gas style canister and utilized a piezo igniter(matches work just fine too). The loop above the heating element is a fuel warmer for cold climates and better performance.

As a nonscientific test, I boiled about 1L of water in less than 90 seconds. I then fried an egg in the frying pan portion, to test the non-stickyness of it. No stick, and with a little butter, the egg will flip better. My pooch enjoyed the treat!

All in all, I'm happy with the $50 purchase, and along with my MSR dragonfly, I can now stow my grandfathers large, clunky, and less effcient Coleman in a nice safe place and use these instead.

Well, I put the new stove to work over the long weekend. The family and I loaded up the Jeep on Tuesday afternoon, and started driving to Sierra Vista, AZ from PdR, CA.

We stopped at a rest area about 30 miles east of Quartzite for dinner. Broke out the Primus, grabbed the home made chicken and noodle soup from the Engel, and less than 5 minutes later, we were enjoying a nice bowl of soup.

Cleanup was easy peasy.

Now that I think of it...my whole camp kitchen has come from Steep and Cheap...odd, but useful!

I love steepandcheap.com too! Using their add-on to firefox which notifies you of new deals, works great.
