IBS Dual Battery System

I bought the IBS dual battery system with RBS module a few years ago for my 4Runner and finally got around to hooking everything up this weekend. It was very straightforward. This system allows both batteries to charge while the vehicle is running, provides a read-out of the charging system status in cab, and provides starting capacity via the auxiliary battery with the RBS module. I still need to run a larger power wire to the rear of the cab where the Blue Sea fuse box will be located and clean a few things up, but overall I am very pleased.

Rear Storage - Round 2

I got around to starting on the interior build again, among other things, this week. I was not happy with the direction of the unit I started before. Raising the entire rear floor to accommodate storage defeats the purpose of the pop top IMO. So I'm working on something now that will allow me to maximize space and utility in the cabin. I laid out the floor on Sunday and boxed it in today. Now I need to lay out gear and decide on drawers slides and final configurations.

Thanks, Max! Sent you a PM a few weeks back. We'll be visiting up there in April - I'll swing by the shop to catch up. Cheers

I noticed you had your RBS relay module mounted upside down. I did mine the same way for ease of installation. On a 2 week trip down to Baja it failed on me. Did a lot of troubleshooting with the guys at Sierra Expeditions and the importers of the IBS, finally figured out it was the RBS relay. Weird thing was, with no rain, water crossings or anything wet nearby the relay, it was full of water when I flipped it over. Will at Sierra said they were designed to be mounted with the terminals facing down. Just FYI. Truck looks amazing!

Cross posting/paging LandCruiserPhil:

Any research you can point me to? I had a complete system bent up and installed last week in including new O2 sensors. I went to one cat, had it clocked, and ran the pipes over the frame. I got a CE light the next day, but the guy checked and thinks it's just a bad sensor which he offered to replace. I initially went in for just a muffler knowing that would be a bandaid and decided to replace the whole thing on the spot. I showed him pictures of LandCruiserPhil's setup for routing, but maybe I should have done more research on the components before pulling the trigger...

Well, not quite as much progress as I'd hoped, but apparently the priority today was hunting for Easter eggs. Baby steps:

Looks great man, I need to commit some time to learning how to work with wood. I want a nice storage box in the back, but I don't want to pay someone to make it lol.

I've got two trips on the new storage set up, and I am really happy with it. Now that I know the layout/design is definitely what I want, I have a bit of finish work before calling it done. More to come on that.

Earlier this spring I added J springs from Cruiser Outfitters. Plenty of room for the new 315's. :D I went with Firestone Destination MT's. These tires don't get much press in the 4x4 community. I've had two other sets on different vehicles. They're a bit heavy but can handle a load. They hook up off road, and they wear well on pavement. On top of that they were $80/tire cheaper than the equivalent size KM2's that I was running. Gitty up!

Pretty standard fare - here's a shot from GSMTR that shows the stance:
