I've only been on this forum a relatively short time compared to most here, but since this has quickly become my favorite hangout I'm going to document my buildup here on the truck I recently traded for. I'll keep the main post here updated with the truck's stats and current pic, and have another post in the same thread with the trucks progression pics. I acquired the truck when pay cuts at work forced me to sell my 2007 FJ Cruiser. After posting it on several boards and no sale, I edited it to include possible trades for select vehicles plus cash to payoff the balance of my loan on the FJ. When a guy in Texas e-mailed me with this truck and its details, but no pics, I told him everything sounded great - just please tell me its any color but gold. His reply with pic was hilarious, of course it had to be a gold truck. Having it for several months now and changing the rims Feb 09 I now don't mind it as much, although some day it might get re-sprayed either red or ExPo white.
The truck was obtained completely stock in the following configuration:
2001 Ford F250 Crew Cab Short Bed 4x4, 128K miles
7.3L Powerstroke Diesel
Automatic Transmission
XLT Package with all the power goodies
Sterling rear axle, Dana 50 straight front axle, leaf springs
Feb 09 - Added Pro Comp 2.5" front leveling springs, Bilstein shocks
Feb 09 - Added Black 17x9 ARE Vice Rims, (4.5" Backspacing) & BFG 35x12.5R17 MT/km2 tires (Had to trim lower valance to clear the tire at full turn)
Feb 09 - Added open air intake
Feb 09 - First oil change @ 131K - HOLY CRAP, $80 for an oil change! Note to non-diesel owners, they take lots of oil...
Mar 24 - Replace all ball joints on front axle $720
April 4 - Replace front sway bar bushings $123.35 installed - No more front end clunk!
May 17 - Oil change
June 19 - Refinish & blackout front grille
July 4 - Installed custom light bar and 4 Hella 500 series driving lights
Sept 4 - Wildernest camper arrived and installed
