Looking forward to seeing this progress. I currently use my XK (Commander) as my family backwoods explorer. Not a popular choice in the overland community but it's what I have. I scored 5 Moab take off for $150. Keep up the great work sir.
Sounds like fun; Welcome to the board. It is always good to see another WJ being used for something other than soccer mom duty. You got a good kit there. IMHO 3 inches is the perfect amount of lift for a DD/WW WJ. Great call on the Bilsteins too; I love the ride on mine. If you have not already done so, I would look into installing an adjustable Track Bar from JKS or IRO. That way you can center your axle back up after you lift it. Good luck.
I think every Jeep ever made is a fine expedition vehicle, well maybe the Compass and the other AWD car they made not so much, but that's just my opinion. I always thought the Grand would make a great family type adventure rig. I have bought a few very dirty vehicles way under value, it's funny how laziness will separate money! Best buy was a 1998 H1 4 door, nice low miler, never ever washed, interior sounds like yours, it was gross in fact we found a green fuzzy stick about 6" long and 1 1/2" in outer fuzz diameter that stunk like hell in it, turns out it was a pepperoni stick! I paid $31K for it, cleaned it, drove it for 3 years, sold it for $57K!
A friend of mine has a really nicely set up WJ that is working out really well. I suspect yours will too!

Love the WJ. I really wish there was a better support for them. The cherokee is starting to disapear and the WJ is plentiful. The 4in long arm and JK takeoffs on mine is fantastic but i need recovery points too.
