well, driving the diesel, 6spd with 4.10 gearing, i'm going 40mph in 5th gear...
so i thought i wouldn't need to regear for 35" tires...

anyway, to help turn that rubber (although nobody knows if i will ever recieve those tires) i decided to pump up the engine.
tec power downloads the components off of the vehicle computer, then they do their 'thing' and re-upload the new parameters...

great thing: no drilling required :sombrero:

I was grazing over earlier pages and read that you were going to be using the light box idea again. I don't want to say that's a bad idea, because it obviously works. But what about a Baja style light bar. a round tube gong around them. They serve the same purpose but might be a little more aesthetically pleasing.

i'm actually not such a big fan of baja style and that's what a lot of people have. i don't want what a lot of people have

and i kinda see it as a trademark by now.

just a small mod but useful:
we did have problems with bugs, little stones, etc. damaging the radiator, so we strapped an insect screen over the grill on the xj.

now the jk has WAAAAY bigger grill slots and i found it necessary to fix that. there are aftermarket parts for that but i think their pricing is a bit off! i wouldn't pay 30 (!) times more for it than i did... (about $10 + one hour of work)

It looks good, but I'm wondering how much that will restrict air flow to your engine compartment...which could be especially bad in hot weather. Since the advantage is protecting the radiator, I guess it's a difficult trade-off.

when we went to morocco last year i expected a change...

but even in desert temps the engine stayed nice and cool (but maybe that's just the diesel (?))

I'm noticing you have different headlights to?? Are those factory? We have the reversed bulbs with big plastic domes here.

I wish they offered the diesel in N.A. that is one tough motor!

yes, they're stock. i think the are supplied by hella...

but they do have breather holes and i had my passenger light exchanged twice because it fogged up...

I'm not sure if the diesel would have any benefit or not.

I think it's a worth while mod it it's taken care of and you know the downfalls. If you go mudding, spray it out before doing any driving that lasts longer than an hour. The mud will really hinder the air flow. Like you said, in Germany it doesn't get very hot (although I lived there before and it got into the 80's for a few months), so I think it was the right move to put it in.

yeah, fortunately we get into the 80's!!!!!!!!!!!

i did have an ordinary insect screen over the grill of the xj...
xj tend to overheat, but that was not changing anything. although i did have a custom aluminum radiator that kept it cool (even in temps of 120 f).

i constantly check my temp, so i shouldn't run into problems (hopefully ))

ok, lets look a little bit into the interior...
as usual we sleep inside the truck on trips which offers a lot of advantages (and i admit some disadvantages - but the pros outweigh the cons by far)
