Holy storage compartment Batman! :)

Something I think you may find useful is if you were to mount that rear box up about 4 to 6 inches. Doing so would allow you to make use of the storage area underneath the box...good place to keep recovery gear such as straps and shackles. Of course, then you'd have to do the same with the other boxes to make your sleeping platform even.

Another guy with a JK I know did this and I wish I would have done the same. I may still lift the Tuffy box I had up a bit, but am not sure I have the time to do so (still many other things left to do before the start of my program). Anyhow, something to think about if you're interested in a bit more cargo space.

doesn't sound bad, but wouldn't you loose all that space below, or am i getting something wrong?

for me it would be to high since i like a little head space on top of the mattress...

I found a picture of what he did...lifted it up just a bit and can now slide things underneath. I would have lifted mine just a bit more to get easy access to that hidden trunk area.

well, since the progress has been so slow, and the suspension lift could not be built in due to tech. inspection, it was even more important to have sufficient protection underneath.

honestly, this was an experiment: asfir produces aluminum skidplates for jks, but not for diesel models. they wanted to know if the would fit anyhow...

the answer is: yes, partly.
the engine skid works and so does the exhaust skid.
but the front skirt doesn't fit on mine because i swapped the bumper and the oil pan skid doesn't fit the diesel...

the engine skid was hanging way too low in my opinion, but i fixed that by hitting it hard and high-centering the vehicle :sombrero:
now it looks pretty good :victory:

oh, here you can see how low the thing was hanging.
compressing the square profile as described above did the trick ...

not much new building wise but an update nevertheless:
since i get the question about fuel milage a bit here's what happened last week...
we went to northern italy for a week - mostly easy highways speeds of somewhere around 50mph.

average milage: 25mpg

(i just love the diesel :victory:)

i like my hi-lift too :)

and the tool is nice, thou with the hammer the bag gets pretty heavy - if only they could build heavy hammers that are not heavy

ok, here's a HUGE step for me!!!

i finally got the 4" skyjacker lift installed!
that was hard work. for half a year i was trying to find a TÜV guy who would put his signature under it without success :-(
so i skipped the plan installing it myself and went with a shop that works with TÜV every now and then. they did a great job, but on the day of the tech. inspection the TÜV guy broke his leg (6-10 weeks out) - very bad.
the alternative guy was a bit more complicated to work with but it all turned out well :victory:
so now it's L I F T E D.
only thing is, the tires look very small now :)

pics to follow..........
