PullPal video review

have these worked for anyone where they are really stuck? I'm talking stuck where a shovel and high lift wont get you out It seems like the soil would have to be right for it. I think I would rather bury a log or my spare tire as an anchor for the odd time I'm stuck, and alone. Thats just it though...I dont wheel alone so there is always another anchor rig.

The video looked to me like the pul pal was plowing up the ground, not anchoring itself like its advertised to do. I like to see one truly anchor a vehicle in a place where a winch is really necessary.

Yes, on several occasions. While its hard to prove shoveling would not have worked, I can promise shoveling would have taken much, much longer than the quick use of the Pull-Pal. Sometimes you have places to be and things to see and shoveling for hours on end isn't on the list. Other times shoveling sand in the desert sounds like a treat :D

Like any other tool, these work well in the right situation. Right tool for the job sort of thing.

The times I have used a PullPal in the sand, I have dug a starter hole with a shovel to get it to anchor itself in a shorter distance. I like the tool and it is now a part of my regular kit as I travel solo most of the time. Just like my winch, it doesn't get used often but when I need it, I am very glad to have it.

I have noticed in soft sand that the yoke of the Pullpal buries itself as well. Given that it takes the winch line with it when it "submerges", when possible I use my static webbing tree strap as a lanyard to keep the synthetic winch line from abrading itself in the dirt.

Before I was aware of the PullPal and was wheeling in the swamps of Ocala 20 years ago, I carried a Danforth anchor. It did the job but was very cumbersome to carry and difficult to remove. The Pullpal is a nice and relatively compact improvement. A HiLift and shovel and no winch in hip deep water and gelatinous mud makes for a heck of a lot of work in my experience.

Looks like it could be useful, but is not small. I carry 3-4 48" form stakes they take up much less room, but I also don't venture into swamps so...
