QuadsBC's 05 Double Cab Tundra Family Expo Build

Tonight I worked on the snorkel fitment. I used a heat gun and some hammer love. I got it to where I'm happy with the fitment. I also built a small bracket to tie the snorkel to the A pillar. The other downside to the snorkel is you loose your antenna. From what I've seen anyone who does this mod adds an antenna on the inside of the cab. They also complain about poor reception. My solution was to remove the antenna from the right side and install it on the left side. I made a template from the right to transfer to the left. A few holes and some time with a air cutoff wheel and it was done.

Nice jod with the antenna. I always figured it could be installed that way. It looks like that is how your truck came. The snorkel looks great too.

I had to hammer it right above the land cruiser antenna hole. Wasn't too much for me. Every application will be different. I wanted to mount mine a little lower so it covered the antenna hole. It also sits close to the door.

Tundra is looking great! Starting to regret the new 285/75/16s I just got.

Regarding your reach shocks, I have the 1st Gen (sway away re badging) and camburg UCAs up front, and the ICON 2.5 piggyback in the rear, they are AWESOME. Put them on after 60K with stock TRD blisteins; 1st time I hit the dirt I never looked back, real nice valving.

However, during a trip to mexico I managed to compress my stock leafs with the 3-leaf AAL (overload removed) and it blew one of the rear shocks off the truck. The body compressed into itself on full bump and ripped the lower shock mount off. As such ICON has now added this disclaimer to their website:

Does not work with rear add a leaf pack.......Only works with rear 1" or 2" lift block

Anyways, threw a 1" block back there on top of my 3-leaf AAL, new shock, pretty happy.

Anyways, long way of saying these shocks are awesome, as long as you verify they will not explode on full bump.

Great thread, love all the electronics going in, those hood lights are giving me some inspiration.

Purchased some cheap eBay lights. Quality isn't the best. I baked and painted the headlights. Tried to do the corner markers but they are glued shut. I'd risk breaking them and at this point I'd rather just have corner markers without water in them.

I found the ones on carid and with a ship date of June I figured I'd give it a try to open the corner markers. I also failed inspection due to water in the turn signal. Guess they didn't notice the blinker fluid was topped off. I sent a pm to one eBay seller, he said they were unavailable. I might shoot an offer on thoes eBay lights.

I thought about hardwiring the vivair 400p compressor under the hood but I'll save that space for an arb unit. I picked up a used pelican case off Facebook for cheap. Seemed like a perfect fit for the compressor and accessories.

Bumper time! Finally starting the build to the rear bumper. It will have a swing out, 2 scepter cans and maybe a chainsaw.

Here's the general idea, but I already have some changes.

And what I've done tonight.

My plans show the shackle points vertical but I'm going to make mine horizontal. I'll pin and weld them to the 2x4. This should reduce the chances of side loading the shackle when being pulled out.
