Do you plan on painting or wrapping the topper? I was in a hurry getting ready for a trip so I rattle canned mine and it turned out awful. (Surprise). I did experiment with rolling paint that was cut with mineral spirits and I was amazed with how well it self leveled! So as soon as the weather warms up a tad here I'm going to take the sander to my top and then roll on some marine grade paint.

Looking good! Stoked for the tub... I've always wondered if I should have went DC to begin with.

After driving subarus for 10 years and a 4Runner for the past year this thing is massive. It turns like a truck and I'm not used to it yet. However the extra interior and bed space is awesome! Wife likes it, kids think it's a monster truck so I'm content. I think your build thread sums it up nicely "a build of compromises." I missed out on the last arb group buy so lockers and gears will wait until I can save a buck.

Always liked the look of the bronze trd wheels with the "beadlock" ring painted black. Google "n0rth Tacoma" if you have never seen his build, be did that to his and they looked awesome.

How did you know my plan? Absolutely love that look. I'm attempting to sell the black set so I can buy bronze. If that doesn't work I'd like to powder coat them.

I would like to paint to match but I will wait a little while. I was under the impression this topper had the swing out windows on the side, when it really has the 'van' style pop out windows. I Won't make any intrusive modifications on the topper yet and will keep searching for the next two months to find the right topper. If that search comes up empty handed I'll start blowing holes and building a roof rack with support. I have a friend who owns a custom body shop and will get it painted. The two part marine grade paint is no joke stuff designed to fill pinholes and be submerged in salt water.

I originally was going DC till I drove one and could not do a turn on to a two lane road. It would need three. This reason plus it wouldn't fit on my garage was why I went AC. It turns alot better

There is no way I could do an access cab. I'd be chewing on my knee caps with a car seat in the back. I really wanted to make a Tacoma work, however the rear seat would be tight and I'd get the same fuel mileage with less power. I'll just have to accept there are some places I can't go. Once the kids are grown up I'll get into a smaller rig and make it to thoes places.

Yeah. The kid seat will be tough. No kids here for now so I'm good with AC. If I do end up with kids. I will be adding a 1st gen sequoia to the fleet and building that.

Thinking of building a bumper like this:

I think that style bumper would look fantastic on your truck. I like how it's slim which should help save weight, yet it doesn't look bare or incomplete like most tube bumpers do, especially on larger trucks like the Tundra (my opinion). I've always wanted a plate bumper but don't want a 200#+ chunk of steel and winch hanging on the front of my truck, so I think a hybrid style bumper like that is the way to go.

Agreed. I have a notebook full of "hybrid" bumper sketches for when I get mine built.

The sketch above looks like an excellent direction.

It's just a winch plate with wings. But $1000.....

Exactly. I can't justify spending 1k on a bumper when I can build front bumper, rear bumper with swing out, sliders, skid plates, front and rear roof rack for the same cost.

I had 175 in steel into the 4Runner front bumper.

There's so few decent looking bumpers for these trucks out there that aren't one off or unobtanium. I don't like that one either, I just like that at least it's another offering I guess.
I'm leaning away from any heavy off road with mine and would want a useful rear bumper first. Relentless fab looks to be making some nice stuff and I like seeing what brute force comes up with.

Oh, look at this sighting: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171879861457

I will say I prefer Addicted's plate and tube bumper over their all tube option. I think it's a step in the right direction as far as the design goes.
I agree $1k is way steep. Can get an ARB bumper for that cost.

I'd agree with that, as you can tell my 4Runners bumper is similarly designed. I used 3/16 plate and 1/4 for the winch box. I've been thinking of using 1/8 plate for the tundras bumper and having 3/16 tube reinforcing it to keep the weight down.

I saw something rickashay posted about a shackle flip kit hitting the market soon. I'm definitely interested in that.
