Question to fridge owners - Do you leave it “running” in cold ambient temps?

I keep mine in Jeep on coach battery 24/7/365, year round. It’s amazing how often we use it just running around town.

My ARB runs 24/7/365 in my Jeep. When I get home each day I plug it in to "shore power" via a NOCO GCP-1 to keep from unnecessarily cycling my batteries. It certainly gets questions from the neighbors and passers by like "is your Jeep a hybrid?"

The thermostat is not influenced by the external temperature.
Wrong.
I've proven that with my garage fridge and the ARB in the FJ.

If you do the have actual experience, don't make it sound like you do.

I have decades of experience using portable fridges.

I hear newer "Energy Star" fridges might have issues in the garage, but the old one in my dads garage that has been there for 35 years seems to be doing rather fine..

Both my ARB and Engel basically run less and less until they dont run at all as temps drop.. if it dont get above the set temp inside, the compressor dont kick on at all.

Please tell me what a government program for labeling energy efficiencies has to do with a fridge in the garage?

Fomr wiki: Energy Star provides simple, credible, and unbiased information that consumers and businesses rely on to make well-informed decisions to save money and reduce emissions.

I suggest everyone read their manual, for their particular fridge.

We run ours non-stop once the cabin is up to temp. Cabin thermostat keeps the camper 55-60 degrees F when up and about, and a bit lower when sleeping.
According to the manual for our CR-1065, the fridge is designed to operate in a temp range of 18-43 degrees C. Or roughly 65-110 degrees F.

These are the best numbers I can find in the manual. And do realize, the way it reads, these are not actual operating temps.
I see this temp range as the range the fridge will operated most efficiently at, without problem.

It's a well known fact that a fridge should not be turned on in Temps lower than 10*c, In the manuals it does tell you this on some models/brands, Yes they will work and Yes they have a very long duty cycle as in the might run for 10 or 15 minutes but they will then shut off for about 2 hours which over a 24hr period which gives you awesome performance in regards to battery drain.

I don't have a portable fridge but I do have a built in compressor fridge in the van. I always turn it off overnight. Everything stays quite cold. If a cooler can keep things cool overnight so can your fridge.
