I found this eu1000i on CL for $300. We love it! Great piece of gear.

IMHO nothing beats the Honda Generators, they are awesome for quality, dependability, quietness, fuel effiecency, etc. I have the EU2000i now and will be adding the EU3000iSA soon. The 2000 works great for most everything I need when camping (if your going to try to run a A/C unit get the 3000), I want to get the 3000 or the 6500 to use for a back up at home.

I have the Yamaha model 3000iseb for emergency use at home. Bought it on Craigslist about 30% off normal pricing. In the economy mode it will run about 20 hours on 3 gallons under a 1 kW load and has an electric start so the family can easily start it if I am away. Has enough ooomph to easily keep the fridge running too.

I have the Honda 2000 also. I absolutely love it. I thought about the 3000 but I decided if I needed more I would buy a second 2000 since they can be run in sequence with the purchase of a cable.

It sounds like Honda's are well worth the price if you can put that cash out.

And some posters have suggested that the generators can run combined? So instead of buying one 3K or 4K, you can buy a pair of 1K and 2K or two 2K's? That sounds like a good setup since you don't just have one big one to haul around.
