R50 Pathfinder - mild build

It's been a while since I updated this thread.
Since then:
Installed LED headlights,
Swapped interior gauge and dash lights to red,
and currently I'm in the process of retrofitting an OEM swing out carrier that I pulled from a junk yard.

Looks good! Hopefully you'll recover some of your departure angle with the OEM tire carrier.

I did a part of the white rim road in Canyonlands last week and banged the carrier coming down a rock ledge. I figured there would be some damage since it was a loud clunk, but it only bent the latch a little.
 
Yeah I remember Patrick mentioning that. Glad to hear it. Just awaiting for the hardware and tools to arrive to finalize the project.

Without a doubt one of the coolest pathys i've seen! This thing really took off! Just looks mean! So much for being a budget build haha!
 
Carrier mounted.
Drilling into the sheet metal was nerve wrecking. I was terrified I would screw up and the holes wouldn't align. But in the end it all worked out.

Then I relocated the license plate.

And mounted a hi-lift for $4 worth of U-bolts.

Hey CDN_S4: Creative use of U-bolts to attach the jack to your rack!

I have a tip for you about the way you mounted your hi-lift, for I have my hi-lift mounted in the same orientation (albeit with different hardware).

The part of the tongue of the jack is cast in such a way so that it will collect water and rust when the tongue points downward. To reduce the chance for pooled water to rust the jack and eventually splash rusty water drips down the side of my rear window and quarter panel, I disassembled my jack and drilled one 3/16" hole in the center of each of the cavities that can collect water, then painted the bare metal where I drilled the holes. You can optionally spray some plasti-dip or bedliner on the tongue surfaces which won't interfere with jack operation.

I also glued a piece of heavy foam rubber on the bottom of the tongue where it would bang into the foot when the jack is all the way down. This helps to reduce rattling of the foot while driving.
