i ran into some problems with mounting my lights and other doo dads on a roof rack. how can i mount the rack, and still be able to remove the top? keep in mind im thinking about a little rack that covers the cab section. but i cant find any info on mounting one.
If you use the rain gutter mounts on the fiberglass portion you WILL break them. I used the yakima rain gutter mounts and broke the fiberglass rain gutter on both sides. I wound up bolting my rack to the thickest sections of the top. First being right behind the top bolts into the cab. the second set were all the way at the back behind the 3rd windows. I have a yakima megawarrior basket with extension which fits perfectly. I have loaded my rack up with jerry can, spare 33 with steel rim (read: heavy), firewood for 3 days and a highlift over very bumpy/rocky trails and havn't seen any cracking or fatigue. best suggestion for bolting directly to the top is use very wide feet.
