Ram vs. Chev vs Ford (3/4 ton)

Have to agree with the 1 Ton advocates. Why bother with 2500's when you can get a 1 Ton for close to the same money and have the added capacity. Yeah I hear the comments, " but they ride better when I pick up groceries and the kids at soccer". However since we are discussing this in the expedition forum Hard Side TC section I'm advocating capacity/capability. Look at all the MOD's guys end up doing, even with 1 tons. However those 1 Ton mods seem to be done for those monsters basement TC's with slides etc. For capability to go most areas, I'm leaning towards non-basement or semi basement short-box, narrow body TC on a 1 ton (insert brand here).

Well, I don't know about trucks now-a-days, but my F250 is identical in every single way to an F350 same model year except for the wheels/tires and the payload sticker on the door. But that's only because it came with the Camper Package which upgraded the blocks/rear suspension to match the F350.

Yep, and there are some instances where a 3/4 ton will actually have a higher payload than its 1-ton counterpart, due to both having the same GVWR, and the 3/4 ton sporting a lower curb weight.

That said, the answers are all in the post I made from the very first page of this thread.

Thats assuming anyone bothered to actually look at specs :coffee:

A 3000lb camper is easily doable with todays 1-tons.

Even some of the 3/4 tons will do it, while remaining under max GVWR.

FYI, here are the 2015 big 3 spec sheets for slide in campers...

But as always, payload ratings are ESTIMATED.

GVWR is stated, but to determine payload you need ACTUAL curb weight, truck to truck.

What year and model truck are you running?

An isolator pad argument? Was hoping for a brand loyalty argument. Wait, I'll start...
