has anyone done a review on these? every time I see one I wonder how their swiss army knifedness will hold up after some kicking around. and how much water actually gets in.

I have the utility version (opens from the top, no drawers) and I have had no issue with it. I would classify it as medium quality, neither good nor bad. Works well for food storage. I have not had it in a Florida downpour yet so that is the only thing I can't answer. I intend to buy another one, I am just waiting for a sale.
