Really lite weight boxes...

Hey guys...
I went for the first time to wonder around a store here in Germany called OBI which is sort of like the German version of Home Depot/Lowes. I mostly just went to browse around and see what kind of stuff people use in Europe for construction etc. I also had to pick up some little this and thats...but check out what I found...(see attachment pics)..
I nabbed the sales flyer associated with these boxes since I was kinda intreagued. I saw them on a shelf and went to pick one up out of sheer curiosity and dang! They are lite weight!!!!!!! So immediately the gears begin to churn... ;) The uses for these may be wide spread if I can get a couple and do a little testing. They aren't cheap but they were not stupid expensive either... I suppose cost is reletive to everyone.?. THe thing I'm more interested in is how they would hold up. They seem thin but not chinsey. Maybe the added perimeter structure and rivets add to that? Not sure..
Unfortunatly I don't speak or read German so I have little idea what the sales add says but the pictures help and the size chart on the back gives a good idea once you translate from the metric system. :)
Are they strong enough for tool, parts, heavy recovery gear? I don't know but would imagine no. But my thought was mounting them on the roof and using it for maybe camping gear or kitchen stuff or...? Not sure, just bulky stuff that takes up room where I could store the heavy stuff there by keeping it off the roof.
Take a look and tell me what you think. If anyone here reads German that would be nice too.. Cheers!

I've bought similar lighter-weight Zarges aluminum boxes in Germany at the similar Bauhaus stores, and have used them for years. They'll hold up fine. Go for 'em.

Nice work snake... I was a little busy today and couldn't look into it. I just sent them an email to see about custom size boxes so maybe I will hear back from them next week sometime? Their manufacturing plant is a couple hours south of where I am stationed. I'd really like just one big box with a low (approx 250-280mm high) profile and able to fit in the front half of my yet unfinished roofrack. I wonder if they could also be made to work on sliders and maybe stack two in the back of my Jeep Scramblers cargo area? I'll post up if I hear from them.

Back in Germany I used both of the brands (first Zarges and later ALUTech - for cost reasons) in freight forwarding applications and no one ever managed to break them or a component of them in regular use. Even when heavily loaded (100kg plus) all was great.
The will get the one or other ding but this will only compromise the bling factor not the function. I would love to have more of them but have not figured out how to get them over here (UAE) at a reasonable cost.

My brother-in-law just took a job over in Frankfurt last week and the rest of the family moves next month. Maybe I can get him to send me a set. Any idea on the price of a set?
