rear axle tech question

so i have an SR without a rear locker. not sure, but i believe it is still a 9.5 axle.

my question is, has anyone swapped a locked diff in? i can get the third a lot cheaper than a whole axle, though the whole will provide spare shafts!

whatcha think? now that its all dented up, i see no reason to hold back! story of my life!
 
Have you checked the Mitsu ASA program to verify which diff you have? I'd do that before buying another diff to swap in. If it is a 9.5" diff, then there's no reason a locked 3rd member wouldn't be swappable. You'd have to also add the LP compressor and check for any required wiring & switches you need to incorporate if the aren't already there.

IIRC, the stock locker also has a lockout feature disabling/enabling it depending on what mode you've selected in the transfer case.
 
i planned on running my own wiring, bypassing the lock out feature. will attempt to tie into the cluster though, so the light will work.

i am not sure what the ASA program is?
