Rear bumper

Rear bumper. I just saw this over on TTORA, a member by the name of Zsasbo had this build by Bent Up. It's a nice alternative for those who wish to keep their spare in the stock location and carry extra fuel. I've seen some distant pictures of a very similar set up on VikingVince's rig but nothing close up.

If you look closely, you will notice that they are held open/closed via some gas struts. Nice feature.

I never thought to put a gas strut on my gate, might have to look into that. Sometimes I open it and forget that it swings where it wants

Looks good, although I think 2 swing arms would probably get old over time when trying to get stuff out of the bed.

I am building a 2 swing because "I think" the one big swing would get old (Pain) even faster than 2. I have a full size and that one big swing could take out small cars with one swing. I like this one! Love the gas shocks. I may borrow that idea!

I really like that idea. I might have to look into that when I am ready for a new bumper.

Looks like the locking mechanism hooks onto something in the middle of the bumper. Gotta be quite a bit of snagging there, say, when standing on the bumper to access gear atop the shell. Might even scrape the tailgate when it's down with a load on it.

However, everyone says good things about AJ and I doubt he would overlook that.

I was under the same impression but have not been able to find any good pictures of Vince's set up.
