I like the color it is different for sure but it a more collectible

Just seeing it painted over makes me sick. Camel Trophy is what started my love affair with Land Rovers as a kid. Its too bad that it went away.
With the '97 event there had been a concious decision to move away from the traditional guts & glory Camel events in favour of a softer event with the emphasis on non vehicular activities. To try differentiate 'new' Camel from 'old' Camel, red, blue and silver vehicles were tried out on the '98 pre-scout to see how they photographed in the Tierra del Fuego setting.

That didn't work out too well for them did it.. I am sure that moving away from the guts and glory vehicular aspect was a contributing factor to land rover pulling out of it and the ultimate demise of he event... That and the pressure against cigarette companies...the earlier events were definitely more memorable and iconic...
