On friday did some prep work for the engine swap, about 1/3rd of the way complete. Pulled both alternators, the air take, radiator, fan, fuel and air lines. Cleaned the oil from the passenger side of the engine bay as well. Still need to pull wiring, transmission shifter, driveshaft between the transmission and the transfercase, front bumper, and the motor mounts. Then clean everything up after the motor is out. The plan is to pull the old engine/trans out and install the new parts over a weekend in late august/early September.

The DT466 engine is sitting in the garage for now. Want to clean it up and change a few gaskets before it goes in.

It needs a bath and paint job.

Engine turns over fine, no known mechanical issues.

Not yet, money has been too tight. There are a bunch of the Spicer 6453 transmissions (5 ton manual) that are up for sale in a few weeks. If I don't find a 10+ speed before then I will pick one of those up. It's not ideal since its a 5 speed and the same .79 overdrive ratio, but will work and they don't cost much.

Pulled all the old wiring off the motor and checked out the plumbing. Need a flywheel, hoses, and a new gasket set but that's it for the engine.

Been productive the last 2 weeks. Towed the deuce to a closer location where the M816 wrecker can be used to pull the old engine and transmission out of the deuce.

Which transmission are you going to use? I've always liked the RTO16909ALL 11 spd. 0.73 overdrive, crawler gears down to 26:1.

My favorite is the RTOO9513 with its .65 final overdrive. Temporarily I will most likely be running a Spicer 6453 from the older military 5 ton trucks. Same gear ratios as my old transmission, but will handle the torque of the DT466. And it's cheap haha.
