Built my trailer last year and hooked it to the Mule and headed for the DMV
pulled in to the inspector lane and gave him my CDL and he wrote my info down and said where do you want the sticker? so he put it on and said go park your rig in the pk lot and walk inside, from there got called after a 10min
wait gave them all my receipts and paid my $18 bucks and was happy!! the only thing you need to know is that they do not issue a title unless you ask for one so keep that in mind. Steve~~~~~~~~~~

In some ways Colorado can be scary easy. Case in point - I bought an old Courior pick up bed trailer for $150.00. Went to the DMV to register it & asked for a new VIn tag as it didn't have one - the old ones were stickers & prone to falling off. They just reissued a new VIN as a homebuilt trailer & said if the old sticker showed up to throw it away. Made my life easy but as I was leaving I thought "what if this had been AT's stolen trailer & someone knew how to play the system"?
