Removing the doors on an 89 Raider

Howdy,

I've run out of landscaping projects so now I have time to work on the vehicle that could have helped haul materials for the landscaping projects!

I'm planning on replacing the front door pins (just to be clear, NOT the swing gate) with removal ones so I can pop the doors on/off at leisure. Other than the obvious safety issue of my person or my phone falling out if either are not properly strapped in, how significant is the concern with changing the structural integrity by removing the doors?

If the integrity is an issue, what about de-skinning and cutting the window frame from a spare set of doors and finishing those up nicely?

Montero is far more rigid than other SUV's and it doesn't care if it's doors are removed. Also these trucks came topless in other countries, I've seen them roofless and doorless with no body flex issues. NOW the big thing is how heavy Montero doors are, be careful and post up pics when you're done. I've seen it done a few different ways, none are really easy. But not hard either...

As dusty as our trails are out here you couldn't pay me to go without doors, and whenever we see a rig without doors on the street we can't help but wonder if they will soon earn the Darwinism award.

I assure all that's been taken into consideration!

That said, to be as safe as possible, has anyone used these Jeep mirrors? They mount in the door hinge.
