To Swansea

From Swansea we headed into Lone Pine to fill up and part ways.

And that's all I have. It was overall a wonderful trip with great company. :)

I did break my two Hella Ralleye 4000 bumper mounted lights. The washboards were so nutty, the vibrations broke them both apart. I ended up unbolting them and tossing them in the backseat. Other than those lights, the truck ran great and the ST Maxx's were even better. Ran about 14psi the entire trip and they took everything we threw at them.

Excellent trip report. Going to view it again on my desktop tonight.
DV is definitely on my bucket list to do. Wanted to go with the xterra group but the wife quashed that cuz we're remodeling!!

Beamed across time and space to reach you!

Great pics! I still haven't visited a couple of those places yet even after 4 trips to DV. Bummer about the Hella 4000s! that hasn't happened to me yet but good to know.

Which of the DV estinations did you enjoy the most?

Very nice trip, really liking the mining implements, you've now put this on places to go.

I kind of want to go back as we only visited a fraction of the park. Mainly the Eastern, and North Eastern parts. The time of the year was perfect.

Bummer! I kind of wanted to go with the Xterra group as wel,l but I enjoyed the ExPo group very much, and wouldn't hesitate to head out again with the same group.

Great pics and a great looking trip!

how were the tries??

The tires were perfect? I ran approx 14 psi for a majority of the trip. There's some premature wear from running such low pressures (even on short sections of pavement) but they grabbed everything with minimal slippage in the loose stuff. Road manners are very predictable and quite smooth at 50psi to the park and 40psi on the way home. So far so good.

I actually enjoyed the entire trip. Since this is my first time there, everything was awesome: The weather, the people, the whole experience. Having only visited a section of the park, I'd like to visit the rest of the popular trails and sites to put together the entire Death Valley experience. The one thing I did not like were the heavily grated washboards. I swear it'd vibrate the fillings out of my teeth and a door or two would fall off. Even driving at 55mph didn't seem like enough.

Oh and note to self, get a sealed airbox or at least a pre-filter.

This is the aftermath of the quite dusty conditions. I can tell you that I've dropped about 2 mpg with that dirty filter. That Volant sealed airbox + snorkel is looking more and more tempting.

I will be curious to see how you like these long term compared to your BFG ATs

I have almost 50,000 miles on my current set, and I am unsure where to head next, the Cooper ST Maxx are on the list.

Since I only had the BFG's for approximately 20k (unknown total mileage as tires were on vehicle when purchased), they were phenomenal as far as wear and performance were concerned. The only issue was that I never got an alignment until recently and that wore down the tires significantly more. Plus the lack of constant rotation didn't help either. With these Coopers, I will be rotating all five tires every oil change to see how much mileage I can tack on to these things. I'm hoping to get at least 50k out of them.
