There are a lot of very "smart" people who make a lot of very dumb decisions every day brother. remember that.

You are aware your last two posts contradict themselves. You criticize Hilldweller for making what you seem to believe is a stupidly obvious warning statement, then turn around and state that smart people make dumb decisions all the time... Isn't that good premise for making stupidly obvious warnings?

Please enlighten me, because you are appearing to me to be doing nothing more than trolling. I apologize in advance if my assumption is wrong.

Those two comments were not co relating. He commented on how his "higher education" makes him "smarter" than myself. I was just making an observation of him trying to pass himself off as the "enlightened" one. I was just trying to keep his head out of the clouds, or up his ***. There have been a lot of "smart" people do some very stupid things throughout history. Just making my point. Book smart is not SMART. hell I have seen engineers make down right dumb decisions in my days of heavy steel building construction. Things that pretty well make you facepalm yourself with the stupidity of what they did. But hey, they have education and a little steel ring that makes them superior in every way to the "peasant". ha ha.

OH, and what is tested in the LAB, is not always what happens in real life. Ocean Ranger in newfoundland is prime example. Deemed the unsinkable oil rig, until it got hammered by a storm that it was tested against in the lab and test environment to withstand, guess what. SUNK. Just one example where you have to take LAB tests with a grain of salt. They are not replicated in the real world. You can argue till you are blue in the face. However, Lab environments are NOT the real world.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand, Switch your reverse lights and use them when you friggin well want. If you are backing into your garden in the night, turn them on so you can see where you are going. I think seeing is a lot safer than being "legal" in this instance, what happens if you were backing in, and the crappy stock reverse lights did not illuminate you son or daughter so you could see they are there. I think you should illegally use your back up lights then. For the sterniacs out there, please give the holy'er than thou rhetoric a rest. THANKS! We get it god will strike you down if you don't follow him!

Not a grudge, just a " don't agree with what he says" mentality. As I mentioned before, if he was in front of me, I would say "I don't agree with all your lab testing, then hand him a beer", However, the preaching on here about legality of certain lights, and the "in the lab" speech, oh, and the fact he indirectly called me stupid a few times as he loves to bring up his "edumacation" while directing comments towards me. it gets old. We know that DS is the GOD of lighting. We get it. But as in all religions or should I say CULT's, We don't have to agree or follow them.

Other than that I'm sure he's a fine person!

I hope someone, or rigid puts up some installed and beam photos of these sr's. I like the look of them more than the duallys for reverse applications.

With all my Rigid lights on - side profile. Front, Back and Underneath is covered...
Now I really want to add a 30" bar to each side under the rear rack for viewing out the door windows at night next.

No pics yet, but I finally wired up the pair of D2 Dually work lights that I installed into the rear bumper of my 08 Tundra. I cut rectangular holes in the steel bumper and flush mounted the lights as level as possible, even adding an extra thickness of gasket under the bottom flange to move the beam pattern up a bit. These lights have the diffuser lens to throw a high and wide pattern, but they still illuminate the ground more than I had hoped they would. The beam is more directional that I expected it to be, so I'll probably have to figure a way to angle them up a little more. They are really bright, though. In comparison to the Hella halogen work lights on the back of my Power Wagon, the Dually D2s are brighter, but the Hellas throw a better, more useful pattern.

Do you have a beam comparison of an otherwise comparable lamp, but one with and the other without the diffused lens?

My Hellas have diffuser lenses, as do the Rigids. If I were doing the Power Wagon today, I would use the Rigids (if budget allows) because they are brighter and draw less power. But I would be very careful about how I mount them so that the beam is where I want it to be. I know Hella has beam pattern diagrams on all their lights, and you can find most of them on the Susquehanna Motorsports website. I think Rigid has beam patterns on their website, but hard to find. As I recall, I had to call Rigid to find the diagrams.

Say for example the vehicle in question was always off road and you wanted the back up lights to always come on when in reverse with no other option for turning them on. What is wrong with wiring them into the existing back up light circuit? Nothing

Separate switch for me because I don't trailer my vehicles and I need to be able to back up without annoying everybody around me. And sometimes I just want those on as work lights when I'm not in reverse.
