Didn't go billet due to the cost for the chunk of billet to make these but I am happy with the results anyways. :)

When I run across an issue like you had, with the fan being too close to the radiator, I try to think of the item least likely needing to be replaced in the future and that's what I modify or build. I doubt you will ever have to replace a pulley...unless you run into a moose.

I like it.

Those turned out nice... When you getting a lathe?

No plans for a lathe in the foreseeable future. Just a new drill press and a 58" sand blast cabinet. I will just keep using Steve when I need machining done.

Took me nearly half the summer to get a turbo injection pump. Now two are in route to my shop. Figures.

At least I can say this truck is cultured. It hails from NZ but will have parts on it from Colombia, Australia, Spain, Germany and Belgium. Kind of cool....

Just picked up from another forum member a SD33T from a Scout. The engine looks to be in decent shape. I am just using it for parts though. What I was really after was the Scout engine plate and bellhousing, I need this badly for another SD33T I have.

Any ways, with this spare engine here now, I have just about everything in hand to get the motor rebuild going. Sometime in the next week or two I will get it all organized, packaged and ready to take to the machine shop. The turbo, injection pump(s) and injectors I am sending to a shop in SLC to test and rebuild as required. At this point, get diesel rebuilt and I can then get back into the project. I also have some body parts in route from South America. A new windshield frame and new A-pillars to repair the rotted ones on the firewall.

That diesel pump looks like an outboard motor!

How do you go about finding parts in far off, distant lands?

I guess I am just good at searching the internet. The IP from Spain I found on Ebay, Spain. The other IP somebody I know via forums msg me and said they could get me one from their homeland. That happens a lot, people msg me offering help or to sell me items. Other sources include Ebay, Australia, Amayama online and some buddies in South America. Good ole Ebay, USA I check often as well as craigslist. I also know a couple guys in Australia I can get parts from, one got me everything to rebuild the diesel including an NOS copper head gasket. I used to shop on TradeMe in New Zealand but they banned us yanks years ago. Now I have to go through somebody in NZ to buy on there. But years ago that is how I got all the PTO stuff and heck that is how I got the Ute too!

So ya, as per another thread, I got a Hotsy rented, super sweet machine. Cleaning up as much as I can by Sunday, machine goes back on Monday. Got the SD33T from the Scout cleaned up today. It cleaned up really nicely, the motor wasn't so bad but the trans had asphalt like crud on it heavy and thick!

Pretty sure this is original paint and so forth. No idea on internal condition of engine at this time but it looks solid from the outside.

A couple of nice clean motors.

I am after the head on this as it is supposed to be slightly different being a TD. The block if I need it. What ever else in the engine that is in better condition than the SD33 N/A from my 83. I also was in need of the engine plate and bellhousing for a different SD33T I have.

Cheers

Through all your deep experience with Patrols, which model is the most capable off-road? You're like the Godfather of Patrols ;)

Obviously the GQ/GU.

Old Patrols like the G60 are not all that great offroad. Limited suspension travel and no lockers holds them back.
