Road Trip in July: TX-NM-AZ-Route 66-NV-UT-CO-TX (May Add WY-SD-ND-MN-IA-MO-NE-KS-OK)

I hope you are having fun in Las Vegas. Fremont street is much more fun than the strip. Our best adventure there was trying to find the most expensive Bud Light beer on the strip. At that time the winner was $7.50 for a bottle of beer. There was a couple of places that sold bottles of Michelob for $1,00, You know where we were.
The best view I had of Vegas was in the rear view mirror as we left town.
YMMV.

It has been fun so far. Yesterday I was so tired, I did not do much. Today I figured Freemont Experience would be a lot better than the strip. So, I spent the whole time there. So much fun. I don't drink alcohol, so I had a hard time finding something to drink.

I think I may make some time to come back some day for a weekend. Fly in on a thursday and leave on a sunday. Vegas truly does not disappoint.

I visited Red Rock Canyon this afternoon. It has a 13 miles scenic drive and about 11 places for people to stop and take pictures or hike. The scenic drive takes about 45 minutes to complete or more if you take your time. But with the heat at 115, I could not hike anywhere, but get out of the car a for a minute or 2 and jump right back in for ac.

Time to call it a night. I have 2 parks to see tomorrow as I leave Vegas for Utah. All I can say to Vegas is; "I will be back!"

Shafer Trail. I was going to do the trail alone until I met up with a bunch of people in different groups about to do the trail. This is where everybody was airing down. Well, except for me. I did not air down. So, keeping my fingers crossed as I head down the switchbacks.

Heading down. 2 Jeeps infront of me. Then I met this solo traveler too. A man in a Nissan Frontier. A really older model. Not lifted or anything. Does not have enough clearance that I have. His Nissan Frontier is standard with NO 4x4. I asked him if he was ok going down this road with no 4x4, he said please! This is an easy trail. That there is nothing to this trail. He said but he has 2 spare tires and tire patching kits, just in case. I could not believe my eyes. So, I asked him if I could put my gopro on his windshield. He said sure, as long as if it falls I will not get mad at him. I told him, if it falls, let him just keep on driving and forget about it. He said cool. So I put it on his wind shield and we were off!

The guy in the Nissan Frontier with less clearance, no 4x4 and driving a standard down Shafer trail switchbacks. He said he is on his way to do a lot of the white rim road.

Where they get the salt from. I still don't fully know everything about how they do this. May try to find out more info about this tomorrow.

Nissan Stock GPS vs my 4 years old garmin. Per my personal conclusion; No match. My garmin beats Nissan GPS by far. Right now they have same destination, but looking at the screens, my old Garmin which I update on the garmin's website every 4 months, beats my stock oem gps system.
