Roam About with "Big Hank"

Now that I was back across the border & retrieved my buried goods I opted to return to some old haunts I'd been to many times in the past. Joshua Tree and Death Valley National Parks. Although I've been to both parks several times over the years, they seem to keep drawing me back........click on the link below for more:

I wondered if you were armed in Mexico & how all that would work when crossing boarders.
Thanks for the awesome pics & reporting! Not near as interesting stuff to see in Mississippi, but holler if ever passing thru. We'll buy you a drink and give you & Petey a place to park ... our dachshund/fiest mix Abby would maybe behave :)

Thanks again for the update and photos. I hope to actually visit some of the places you've posted about - instead of just living vicariously through your blog.

Getting caught with a weapon is Mexico would be.....bad, real bad. I have no doubt you'd see the inside of Mexican cell for awhile. I certainly would never chance it. You never know, I may take you up on your offer for a place to park. Thanks for following along.

Or worse ...... time is quickly ticking by , and your not aware of it ....

Even short trips ( 1 night 2 days) are fun and you will be amazed at what's an hour or two away

Park. What do you do about carrying your weapon across state lines or Canada?

I don't take it into Canada as those Canucks frown on that sort of thing. You can, but some paperwork is required and I haven't checked into how much of a hassle/cost is involved. State lines I don't worry about. I keep the pistol in the camper as I only really see a remote need for it when in the camper at night. I'm 59 now and have had to pull it out one time in all those years. Thank god I didn't have to use it. The realization of the loser in question that I had it remedied the situation......in a hurry. Don't get the impression that I'm some gun toting nut job that thinks he can't go anywhere without being armed. I'm not, but I do believe that all law abiding citizens have the right to bear arms if they choose. Ninety nine point nine percent of the people in the world have good intentions. It's that .10 percent that the weapon is for.

Update:

My trip to Baja and points in between was coming to an end as I slowly worked my way back to Tacoma. The trip down to Baja had been a good one but I needed to get back to the real world. I always have mixed emotions when returning from a trip. I dread coming back to a city with its traffic, surplus people, and hectic pace but force myself to accept it in order to see loved ones again...........

Love the Cedar City area. I almost moved there many years ago. Not real sure of the route I'm taking just yet but if I end up that way I'll shoot you a PM. Thanks...Park

Little bummed out today as I'm not going to be able to attend the Overland Expo down in Arizona as planned. To lift my spirits I headed over to the Wenatchee National Forest area for a little camping in my new, to me, rig. Picked up a mint 98 Chinook with only 35,000 miles on it. One of those "wild hair in the ***" type of purchases but I'm not kidding, the thing is mint condition. Guy who owned it kept it in an airplane hangar for the past 18 years. I've always liked the Chinooks so figured I'd go for it. Really nice camping in it this week-end. Super comfy and drives like a dream. The term "glamping" is certainly warranted when hanging out in this thing.
