Trying to see what everyone uses, recommendations..There seems to be only couple of retailers selling roof racks for the RRC and I am not sure what is the best.

Thanks for your help

For what it worth… I have a Frontrunner Slimline and love it!

Paid full price too.

I did a lot of research and decided on a Front Runner rack for my D1. Because the side rails of the rack are two pieces (which I wasn't aware of when I bought the rack) and the gutter on the D1 isn't completely flat, I had to add shims to get it to sit straight. Then the wide slats caused major vibrations in my sunroof and then the whole truck. Is soon as you got over 30 kpm the whole truck started shaking. Got that resolved and then went to install the Maggiolina Extreme and it wouldn't fit unless I made cutouts at both ends of the rack. I decided to stop at that point and went back to my Thule racks for the RTT for this summer. That said, the folks at Front Runner were great and their service is excellent. If I do go back and add a rack in the future, I think it will be a Baja Rack. This was my second choice and in hindsight, it might have been the better choice. I'm sure they could fabricate a rack for your needs. Right now, we are rethinking our camping setup and looking at selling the RTT and going to a Kodiak Canvas ground tent with a Thule Rocket Box up top for extra gear and the canoe.

Factory racks look the best.

If all you are doing is a RTT, use Thule bars.

All of the aftermarket racks are flat and the RRC roof is curved and they look ugly IMHO.

Not sure about the RTT application, yet, Brownchurch makes a nice rack for RRC.

On my second one which they hot dipped galv and then painted black.

Folks there are very helpful if you have any questions.

headdamage, how much trouble have you had out of that 200tdi? Reliable? Daily driver? How much was the conversion? Was it a lot of trouble?

No trouble other than the heater not working properly. I think we might have put it back together wrong as it only heats air about 20 degrees C above ambient so at -20C the air vents are blowing 0C.

Was using it as a daily driver, not right now due to the heater issue, the weather has been below -30c sometimes -40c for the last couple of months. Tried working on it but the dash plastic is too hard to work with at these temps and I don't have garage so it is waiting for warmer weather to fix it. Engine starts fine at -30c with 0w40 oil and an AGM battery.

Converting it from RHD to LHD was a pain in the *** but that was largely due to the amount of rust we uncovered and we ended up replaceing the entire steel body with a rust free NAS one.

Cost I'd rather not think about it. I really like the RRC but I wouldn't do it again.
