Hi there,
just bought myself a FG 637c ex tour-bus and it has an air conditioner fitted to the roof....
Is it worth keeping and if so what are the advantages...
I'll have both solar and honda gennie to power....
Is a domestic 240v split system a better option if the vehicle is going to be parked up for long periods?....
thanks...

Yes. Powered by the Honda but. Not the solar.

BTW That is an old "Noosa Coach" you bought isn't it? Do you know when the build was??

My boss and some of our earlier employees at Allterrainwarriors used to work for Noosa Coach which at that time was across the road from where I worked at Noosa Cat. The original owners of Noosa Coach folded so that’s how Allterrainwarriors started when my boss realized there was a big hole to fill in the 4wd medium truck/bus market. Anyway I showed my boss the pic of your new truck and he’s sure he worked on it although wasn’t sure exactly when. That’s why I asked. It has shelving in behind the rear doors too doesn’t it?

What year is the truck then? I’ve seen it running around before when I’ve been up visiting the family. They all live around Mossman, Cape Trib, Daintree and Port.

This old Isuzu is a very similar build but with has deeper boot. It’s at our workshop now.

How is Barry? I delivered that truck for him with Arnie from Noosa to Orange!!! She was one of the best Trucks that ever left the factory!! If I'm not mistaken, Paul built the front bar on that one.

The system on your roof is a Carrier system mate, similar to what John fits onto the Warriors. It's an off engine drive system, suitable for running when travelling, I agree that you would be better off with a split system. You'd do well to call Oz Tours and see if you can sell them the Carrier for a parts rack.
Might be a way to help fund the split system.

my mate just aquired this ex-suncoast bus....isuzu300...'95

any ideas of makers etc?///

Does it have the large doors on the rear, or the small?
The ex Suncoast bus that was at Quaids, was built by Noosa bus and coach around 15 years ago, it has a corporate air system on the roof.
Does it look like this

This vehicle travlled the East coast on Waste Vege Oil as fuel...

Awesome. Two of my lecturers did a return East West crossing last year on UVO with a Patrol and camper trailer. Got all the oil along the way They even organised one of the Aboriginal communities near Broome to run their genset on waste oil from a nearby roadhouse. You know how it is . Trying to change the world one combustion engine at a time.

One of the guys on here was talking about running a Canter on Biodeisel (I think . And not actually UVO) about a month ago. I think it was Defenderbeam.

This is a good tip. Mike and Wayne at Oz Tours are good blokes. Wayne's Mum lives near me so we see him on the Sunny Coast every now and then. He's a very clever guy on FGs and setting one up for serious travel. There wouldn't be anything that ANY of those tour bus company mechanics wouldn't know about fixing your truck.
