Roof Top Tent Ladder Question - Sand

What do you guys do when you deploy your tent in sand and you find the ladder starts sinking? We usually carry a welcome mat, but i don't know if this would be enough to stop it from sinking or would it?

I carry a small piece of plywood to rest the ladder on and put my door matt over the plywood to cover it. It works well in soft soil as well.

A mat or square of Astroturf works pretty well. You can also carry a piece of 3/4" plywood - whch doubles as support for the jack base if needed. The plywood works better

I used a floor mat from the 80 which was perfect.
