In the famous words of Joe Dirt "Dang". I have been researching RTT for a the past few months. The only kind i have actually seen were the CAR TOP TENT brand, no way as thick as my Carhart pants. Thanks Martyn for the refrence. The Series 3 is looking better. And a life span of up to 25 years WOW.....Sorry for the highjack

Best hijack to date.

One of the huge advantages RTT's have is their ability to be breathable. It makes the atmosphere in the tent perfect for sleeping in.

If the fabric is coated or has low breathability it creates a muggy micro climate.

Spend the time to climb inside the tent, better if it's two people, and zip all the openings closed. Stay in there at least 10 minutes to feel if the fabric is breathable. If it starts to get muggy and close save your money.

So what I am getting here is that the tents "break in" a little with use. That would make me think that they level out, even when brand new, once some weight is in the tent.

I think you are correct.

The problem is that the ladder is set before you get in the tent, when there is no weight inside the tent to flatten it. So once you are in the tilt remains as the ladder supports it.

It's best to have the ladder set a little short, pull the ladder downwards to remove the tilt, and stake the ladder in place.

I can say that mine does lay flat, but I had problems with it at times being on uneven ground. The ladder was too long because I have mine mounted on a trailer. I simply drilled some additional holes to allow me to adjust the ladder when needed. It really helps.

i too have noticed this in all the forum pics, but i thought it was supposed to be this way so that no matter how the truck was parked you would always have one side of the tent slightly elevated so you didnt have to sleep with your head down hill. of course i probably just revealed to the entire world that im a moron.
