That is why it works. Without the bend, it will be too close to the coin tray, and under drivetrain flex, it will hit the tray and pop out of lock. I did a write up on pirate along time ago, the pics might still be there. I cut the coin tray, but I cut the backside and reglued the pleather, so it looks like the 87-88 version.

Cool. I'll have to see that then. I just cut they tray and used the shifter boot from an earlier rig / or a Disco / or had my handy next door upholstery shop whip it up.......prolly 6 / 1 half dozen the other type thing. To me the way I've done it several (many several) times now seems pretty easy. Sorry for the disagreement.
