Rubber Kitchen Mats for recovery?

Someone told me he uses these for recovery, what do you guys think?

Or what do you use, carpet, rocks, wood, etc?

And you're going to throw them over a winch cable? That's the only thing I could see that would help much with these most of the times I've ever been stuck.

Asphalt roof shingles.

I've done that. Stuck in the snow near a construction area. I got some scrap wood to use as ladders to get me out of the hole, but not enough traction on the wet wood. I put some shingles between the wood and tires, and it worked perfectly.

Anything grippy-abrasive will work once or twice .............

if you want to be sure it will work
and a repeated quantity of times you need to think a little tougher.

sand ladder fiberglassgrating etc.

dam twigs - grass and rocks will help too

It really depends on what you drive where you drive it and where's your nearest friend !

I like to make the brush pay me back for all the paint gouging it does. But it does work, real ladders would be nice.
