In that bottom picture... is that the snorkel sucking air with the thingy pointing down over the side? Gez... if so that's just asking for some mud/crap to get in there...

It's a modular system. You can remove the upper portion, and just run that lid. I think you can even run one where the precleaner sits right at the base like on the HMMWVs. It seems like a great design and would probably get it if I didn't already have a snorkel. What I would like to know is how are the internal connections, and if they're reliable.

The over all design is clean but the install seems like a real pain and takes alot of body work...they may have changed since I last looked at it though.

Interesting, I had the opposite feeling on the install. Far better than sawing a hole in the side of your jeep or the hood, and can revert back to stock if needed.

If I remember correctly you have to remove the outer fender skirt where you have to drill out then spot weld back in.

Actually you drill out a couple spot welds and then make a couple small internal cuts to the inside of the cowl area. No welding back required.

The only time I saw it was a very long time ago. The fender flare and fender area all the way back to the body line in the middle of the door was removed. It may of just been a demo or maybe they just changed the way it works.

You do have to unbolt the fender, don't believe that has changed, so in a sense, it is more work, but in my opinion easier work than cutting your hood. Also, I like the fact it can go back to stock if need be, without having to purchase another hood or fender, having it painted, etc.
