Running battery cable into truck bed for dual battery setup

DiploStrat, yes, perfect sense...thanks. I'd seen those Blue Sea terminal post fuses elsewhere and thought they made a lot of sense...can't get closer to the battery than ON the battery. I've just started snooping around for a 200 watt solar kit with flexible panels. I'll likely not be attaching the panels to the top of the truck as the wife and I like to go tent camping from time to time so portability is important.

Thanks a ton for all the great coaching...much appreciated.

Ericvs...I'll crawl around under the truck and see what's there...thanks for the tip. If my bed has those drain holes, this job will be a lot easier.

Thanks for the info. I know lots of folks put AGM batteries in their living space. I've already committed to the engine compartment, though, so I'll see how that works for the time being.

It'll be just peachy. My GMC has had dual AGMs in the engine compartment for about 18 years with no problems other than normal replacement and one burned up aftermarket alternator. The alt that burned up was an expensive custom job that failed in EBF AZ and the only replacement I could get was a factory 105 Delco amp. That 105 has been in there for about 15 years now, feeding Optimas and Odysseys.
